One death; clashes between FSA and regime forces; artillery shelling; siege causes dire shortages in all life necessities
*** Recent developments on the ground***
Clashes broke out early in the morning between the Free Syrian Army and regime forces on several fronts. The fiercest clashes happened on the northern front (Sukaina Shrine and Shariya School axis) as regime forces shelled the area intensively using heavy artillery, Malyutka rockets, B10 shells as well as high-concentration tear gas bombs. Meanwhile, sniper operations were taking place on both sides.
The rebels retaliated by attacking Assad’s forces using homemade shells, medium machine guns and snipers.
Sporadic fighting was also reported on the eastern and southern fronts.
Civilian Mustafa Abu Khalid died today as a result of the brutal shelling against the city.
***Humanitarian and living conditions***
The besieged people of Daraya have been suffering for fifteen months under the siege laid by the regime amid destruction in infrastructure including water, power and communication networks. Over 6,000 civilians including 600 children are living under siege.
The displaced people of Daraya are facing exceeding difficulties due to the crackdown by security forces and the army amidst appalling living conditions.
