22 barrel bombs; 3 deaths and a number of injuries; heavy artillery shelling; clashes; 14 months of siege and an absence of life necessities
*** Recent developments on the ground***
Three people have been killed and a large number of civilians were injured in the city of Daraya today as a result of barrel bombs shelling.
Early in the morning, Assad’s helicopters dropped twenty-two barrel bombs on the city. The bombing targeted civilian areas in the city centre and in the south and west of the city. Regime forces renewed their shelling of the city using heavy artillery and rocket launchers. The shelling originated from Fourth Division Barracks, Regiment 153 and checkpoints based on the Damascus-Daraa Highway. In the morning, clashes involving medium to light arms broke out between the FSA and Regime forces on several fronts in the south and east of the city.
An initial toll of the last six days shows that regime’s helicopters have dropped over 100 barrel bombs on the city causing over 20 deaths and dozens of injuries including critical injuries and cases of permanent disability.
The bombing also reduced to rubble over 70 houses and caused partial destruction in 30 more houses.
Three people were killed and a number were injured today due to violent shelling and bombing.

***Humanitarian and living conditions***
The besieged people of Daraya have been suffering for over a year amidst a total lack of humanitarian, medical and food supplies. Over 6,000 civilians including 600 children and 50 new born babies are living inside the siege. The people have been surviving on whatever vegetables or herbs they can get. Unfortunately, large proportions of crops have been damaged by the current wave of frost. As a result, the siege is becoming ever more life-threatening due to hunger, cold and daily shelling including explosive barrels.
