• Recent developments on the ground
The city witnessed clashes in the eastern areas in the vicinity of the alleged Sukaina Shrine as regime forces were trying to sneak into the area. FSA repelled the attempt inflicting several injuries among regime forces.
Heavy artillery shelling originated from Fourth Division Mountains targeted neighbourhoods in the southeastern and western areas; further destruction was brought to the buildings and neighbourhoods in both area by the shelling.
• Humanitarian situation
The people of Daraya continue to suffer under the siege as due to absolute lack of food and medical supplies as well as a scarcity of fuels supplies with the approaching winter. Meanwhile, the city has been without power, communications or drinking water for 12 consecutive months.
More than 6,600 civilians are surviving on a little rice and some local produce. There is a dire need for baby milk and dairy products. The city is still home to around 600 children including 50 young children born during the siege.
