|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
Security forces were deployed in most neighborhoods of the city, especially in the areas surrounding mosques, in armored vehicles and pickup trucks. Patrol cars moved through the city center, and temporary checkpoints were set up in the main streets.
A large military convoy comprising armored vehicles and SUVs was seen leaving al-Karameh neighborhood toward Tareeq Halab. Regime forces raided al-Karameh neighborhood in three vehicles with mounted machine guns and three armored vehicles from the Air Force Intelligence branch. They arrested three young men, and confiscated cell phones from people in the streets.
Last night, an anti-regime demonstration was held in al-Bayad neighborhood despite the siege imposed on the city by security forces.
Humanitarian conditions are still dire, as the city has been without water for 28 days now. The main water supply from Homs has been cut off, and people are relying on well water, which is not only insufficient to meet the need, it is also unsanitary.
¤ Hama Countryside:
There has been recent military escalation in Hama's northern and eastern suburbs. Most of the eastern suburbs are now under rebel control, as they continue to fight for the few remaining bases and checkpoints that remain under regime control. Aerial and artillery shelling of the province is ongoing.
Eastern Suburbs:
Yesterday, regime aircraft shelled the Tal Jadeed village with explosive barrels, resulting in the partial destruction of the school village. FSA units seized control of Western Salam village and al-Barghouteyeh village. Residents of Fraitan village fled their homes because of the regime's shelling of the surrounding area. Today, rocket and artillery shelling of a number of areas, including Qasr ibn Wardan, al-Hamra, al-Rahiyeh and al-Kharsan was reported.
Salamieh:
Security forces were on alert in the streets of the city as a group of injured soldiers arrived at the national hospital in the aftermath of clashes between regime and opposition forces. Calls were made from the mosques for people to go donate blood.
Northern Suburbs:
FSA fighters launched attacks on regime forces at the Helfaya Bridge and al-Madajen checkpoints.
Kafarzeita:
There has been no bread in the city for 12 consecutive days because regime officials are failing to deliver the city's supply of flour. A protest was held after Friday prayer today.
