*** Recent developments on the ground***
The twin cities of Daraya and Muaddamiya were shelled sporadically today using heavy artillery from Fourth Division Mountains and checkpoints surrounding both cities. The bombardment on Daraya was at focused on the western and southern neighbourhoods. The northern front in Muaddamiya (Alarbain front) witnessed intermittent clashes; the combat fronts in Daraya witnessed light-weapon skirmishes. Meanwhile, helicopters conducted overflights over the two cities.
*** Humanitarian situation***
The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen as the siege goes into a 10th month. The city of Darya is suffering from dire shortage necessities like food and medicine, a complete absence of clean drinking water and flour, and a complete blackout of electricity and communications. Meanwhile, the displaced people of Daraya and Muaddamiya are suffering horrific living conditions due to incessant shelling and continuing arrest campaigns. Inside Damascus, security forces are cracking down on most displaced people especially those who come from Daraya or Muaddamiya.
