This morning, a convoy of military vehicles and tanks entered the city via the eastern entrance having previously been stationed around the eastern checkpoint and in A-Mazzeh Military Airport. Meanwhile, most parts of the city were hit by heavy artillery and mortar bombs. The city’s fronts witnessed relative calm interrupted by sporadic fighting using light weapons and mutual sniper operations.

Over the past nine months the city of Darya has been surrounded by tens of regime checkpoints forming a tight siege and resulting in dire shortage in all the necessities of life amid a complete blackout of electricity and communications. Meanwhile, the displaced people of Daraya are suffering horrific living conditions where food supplies and safe homes are scarce and prices are soaring.
