*** Recent developments on the ground***
Clashes between the FSA and pro-Assad militias were renewed today in the vicinity of Liberty Square as Assad’s tanks shelled the area indiscriminately in an attempt to save a number of soldiers besieged by the FSA. The regime fighters were trapped in the aftermath of yesterday’s operation during which 15 pro-Assad fighter were killed and several buildings were cleared. Tanks tried to create an opening for the regime soldiers to escape but their attempts were thwarted by the courageous FSA fighters.
Minor skirmishes were recorded on the remaining fronts interrupted by sniper operations while regime locations were bombed with B10, RPG and homemade bombs.
The city was indiscriminately shelled by tanks and heavy artillery located on Muaddamiya mountains. The shelling targeted Liberty Square and city centre and caused more destruction to the city.
A Darayan mother and her 4 children were badly injured by aerial bombing in their hiding place in Khan Alsheeh Camp.
***Humanitarian situation***
The city is going through impossibly difficult humanitarian and living conditions amid a tight siege that has been in place since the start of the current campaign. The city is completely without potable water, electricity, flour and is running extremely low on medical supplies.
The displaced people of Daraya are also suffering horrific living conditions in the areas where they live amid high prices and severe shortages in supplies.
