*** Recent developments on the ground***
Clashes between FSA fighters and regime militias renewed in the eastern areas as regime forces attempted to sneak into the city through Almaamil Road. FSA fighters repelled the attempt inflecting several injuries among regime forces. Regime forces retaliated with heavy artillery shelling targeted the area causing fire to break out in a house. Intermittent clashes break out in the southern area near Sahnaya; the area also was targeted with artillery and B10 shelling from Muaddamiya Mountains. Shelling and mutual sniper operations took place on most fronts. On the western front, an FSA sniper managed to kill a regime soldier with a direct hit. Regime forces retaliated with shelling from tanks surrounding the city targeting the area.
Late last night, the death of Wassim Abou Almajd, from Daraya, was reported; he died in Khan Alshieh fighting to defend his homeland and honour.
***Humanitarian situation***
The 9-month long siege has been causing acute shortages in medical and food supplies as well as a complete blackout of electricity, water and communications.
Thousands of civilians including women and children are still trapped inside the city in dire need for the basic life necessities. The city has been without bread for over two months due to the absence of flour.
Hundreds of wounded persons including young children, under 1 year old, are in extreme need for medicine and medical care. Field hospitals are simply not capable to meet all these needs amid these tragic circumstances.
