In the prisons and dungeons of the regime's forces and branches, nearly every detainee will undoubtedly become a martyr, as the torture is of the most violent kind. The regime's torture is not limited to beating, forceful removal of fingernails, electricity shocking, rape (and other sexual abuses), and death. There are several documented ways and means of blatant breaches and violations of human rights law.

Since the beginning of this revolution for freedom and dignity in Syria, the documented number of martyrs who have been killed under torture in the regime's prisons is 2,267. The human mind can not comprehend of imagine the kind of torture that the criminal regime commits on prison detainees. The documented numbers of women and children who have been killed under extreme torture in these prisons are 7 women and 51 children.

The Local Coordination Committees condemn and deplore these barbaric and criminal practices by the regime's forces against the detainees and call on all international organizations and human rights organizations, such as UNICEF, the Red Crescent, and Red Cross, to intervene in order to save the lives of thousands of detainees, whose lives are threatened in the prisons of the regime. We demand that they intervene now for the sake of thousands of tortured detainees, as their health continue to deteriorate.
