|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
The Hama Military Airport continues to send warplanes to and from the suburbs of Hama and Idlib. Security forces continue their campaigns of raids and arrests in the city's neighborhoods as well.
This morning, regime forces deployed in al-Hamedeya neighborhood in armored vehicles and pick-up trucks, and arrested a number of people. Armed security forces were seen in al-Barazeya and Bab al-Balad, and set up a temporary checkpoint on al-Marabet Street. One man was arrested by regime forces who were deployed in Souq al-Shajara and Wadi al-Hawarneh. Security forces were also seen in al-Hader and al-Manakh.
At around midnight, security forces raided al-Mugheela neighborhood amid intermittent gunfire. Intense gunfire was also reported in al-Mahatta.
Economic Report:
Assad regime forces have arrested a number of owners of currency exchange shops, licensed and unlicensed, in Hama and elsewhere. This is related to the steady decline in value of the Syrian Pound relative to western currencies, The exchange rate today for the US dollar is 310 SYP, and a gram of 21 carat gold now officially costs 9500 SYP, but is being sold for 10,000. Trade of currency and gold was halted two days ago, and a number of goldsmiths closed shop early today. Prices of staple items continue to rise on a daily basis.
The Hama-Aleppo Road is closed for the 9th consecutive day, and travel and freight to Aleppo has stopped. This has caused an increase in price of items that come from Aleppo.
¤ Hama Countryside:
Tayebt al-Imam:
Ahmed Mohammad al-Sagheer, age 23, was arrested from his house by regime forces. He used to work in Saudi Arabia, and came to the city about a week ago. Shabiha from Deir Shmail, led by Lt. Samer, arrested Hussam Mahmoud al-Sulaiman after raiding and looting his father's house this morning, and also arrested the sons of Abu Awad al-Fajr.
Harbnafse:
Heavy shelling of Harbnafse by regime forces led to the fall of two martyrs, and the injury of a number of others. The martyrs are from al-Houla, Homs, but were present in the village. They are Nawres al-Hussain, age 22, and Obaida Ibrahim, age 22.
Hawweeja:
Intense shelling of al-Hawweeja from al-Nahl checkpoint in Sqailbeya was reported.
Eastern Hama Countryside:
FSA forces launched an attack on a black Mercedes on Kans al-Bardouneh Road, and killed a shabih named Ghiath al-Kabashi. His brother was wounded as well. They are siblings of the shabiha Nareiman al-Kabashi, and they have a reputation for being thugs in Hama's eastern suburbs.
Western Hama Countryside:
Shelling of Kafranbooda and the villages of Shahshabo Mountain was reported from al-Mugheer, al-Janabra and Tal Othman.
