***Headlines***
Arrest raids in Shawaqa area; intermittent clashes on several fronts; regime forces mistakenly shell one of their locations; sporadic artillery shelling; one death and a number of injuries; 8-month-long siege causes dire shortages in all supplies
*** Recent developments on the ground***
Regime forces conducted a search and arrest campaign in the farms of Shawaqa area west of the city. Several displaced people from Daraya were arrested and several cases of looting and vandalism were recorded.
This morning a surface-to-surface missile hit the southern area causing widespread destruction. Meanwhile, the western area was shelled by tanks located along Jedaidat Sahnaya Road. The city centre as well as the vicinity of Althawra Street and Alrahman Mosque received several artillery shells. Military helicopters flew over the city.
Sporadic fighting occurred on the eastern and western fronts while the remaining fronts witnessed cautious calm interrupted by mutual sniper operations and RBG and B10 shelling.
Assad’s forces mistakenly shelled one of their locations on the southern front. The building was seen burning and there are reports of heavy casualties among regime forces.
FSA fighter Osama Abu Habeeb died while defending the city. Sayah Alkoshak Abu Ahmad died after a long illness. He will be buried in the town of Zakiyeh where he lived after leaving Daraya.
***Humanitarian situation***
The humanitarian situation is beyond belief. The twin cities of Daraya and Muaddamiya have been under tight siege for more than 8 months. The remaining inhabitants are suffering acute shortages in food and medical supplies amid a total black out of electricity, water and communications.
The suffering of the displaced Darayans is increasing on a daily basis, especially those in neighbouring towns. More than 200,000 displaced people face unimaginable difficulties under siege and shelling.
