|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
At 5 a.m. today, intermittent gunfire was heard coming from al-Omran checkpoint in al-Qusour neighborhood at the entrance to the industrial area. At around 9 a.m., an explosion was heard in the area between al-Qusour and al-Mazareb, and black smoke filled the sky.
At the time of Friday prayer, a number of security patrol vehicles and armored vehicles were spotted. Regime forces surrounded some mosques, including Talhat al-Khair and Abdulrahman ibn Awf. Snipers were positioned atop the Qatranji building near Beshr al-Hafi Mosque.
Assad regime forces and shabiha roamed the streets of al-Sabouneya neighborhood in three armored vehicles and two pick-ups before Friday prayer, in the areas near al-Shuhadaa, al-Falah and al-Eman Mosque. As people were heading to prayer, an armored vehicle stopped a group of men and asked for their ID cars. The same occurrence was reported near al-Eman Mosque, but no one was arrested.
A car explosion shook Janoob al-Mal'aab neighborhood today (explosion of a military truck), near the police station near al-Eskan Roundabout. A shabiha inside the car was playing with a grenade, and set it off on accident, killing himself. A few minutes later, shabiha at the checkpoint began hitting children in the area, and stole three cars. They humiliated residents in the area, and instated a curfew in the surrounding area, closing off the main street in the neighborhood.
Security forces deployed near Ketf al-Shree'a arbitrarily arrested some residents, and a number of patrol cars were roaming around the neighborhood near the College of Medicine.
¤ Hama Countryside:
Tayebt al-Imam:
Shabiha from Qamhane and regime troops stormed the southern neighborhood of Tayebt al-Imam and arrested the brothers Bahaa Abdullah al-Naasan and Sayeb Abdullah al-Naasan.
Kafarzeita:
Regime forces at the Tal al-Hamameyat checkpoint shelled the outskirts of Kafarzeita, igniting fires in the orchards and pistachio and olive trees.
Helfaya:
Regime forces indiscriminately shot at young men who were swimming in the Orontes River, and two were reportedly wounded.
Kafranbooda:
Kafranbooda was subject to intense shelling from all checkpoints in the area this evening. Shabiha attempted to storm the city from the south, but were warded off by opposition forces. Four shabiha at al-Mugheer checkpoint were sniped by Kafranbooda FSA.
