Intermittent clashes on several fronts; rocket and artillery shelling causes a number of injuries; siege continues causing acute shortage in all supplies
*** Recent developments on the ground***
In the early morning, the city witnessed artillery shelling from Fourth Division Mountains targeting several fronts. Clashes took place in the western front. Checkpoints on Sahnaya – Jdaideh Road were on high alert; snipers were deployed at several buildings in Alwahhab and Alalaali areas. These areas were also shelled by tanks located at checkpoints surrounding the city.
Meanwhile, a tank and several troop carriers headed from Daraa Highway to Almaamil Road where intermittent clashes broke out. Tanks and military vehicles were also sent from Al-Mazzeh Military Airport. Clashes broke out in the vicinity of the alleged Sukaina Shrine, Old Corniche and Liberty Square. Clashes also erupted in the southern front and caused the regime forces high casualties. Ambulances arrived on the scene and transported the injured among regime forces to Sahnaya Infirmary.
*** Humanitarian situation***
Daraya has been living for over eight months under tight siege stopping all necessities from reaching the city. Most food and medical supplies are running out while electricity, communications, and fuel are also completely cut off from the city.
The suffering of the displaced Darayans is increasing on a daily basis, especially those in neighbouring towns. More than 200,000 displaced people face unimaginable difficulties under siege and shelling.
