New reinforcements attempt to control city; FSA fighters remain steadfast; violent rocket and artillery shelling; a number of injuries; siege continues causing acute shortage in all life necessities
*** Recent developments on the ground***
This morning, new military reinforcements headed towards the city. The military convoy included tanks and armoured vehicles. In addition to this, the huge military build-up along the city is still in place. Meanwhile, helicopters flew over the city. Clashes broke out in different parts of the city: The fiercest clashes were recorded on the western front; intermittent clashes were recorded on the southern front.
Fourth Division Mountains and military points surrounding the city launched a barrage of rocket and artillery shelling targeting the western and southern areas causing massive destruction of infrastructure and neighbourhoods.
The city is still facing a deteriorating human situation due to the siege and the acute shortage in food and medical supplies and the total absence of the basic necessities of life including electricity, water and connections.
*** Humanitarian situation***
The suffering of the displaced Darayans is increasing on a daily basis, especially those in neighbouring towns. More than 200,000 displaced people face unimaginable difficulties under siege, shelling and recurring massacres. People remaining inside Daraya are facing a far greater threat under siege and total absence of the basic necessities of life including electricity and water.
*** Medical Centre Report***
The medical team continues to provide all possible help to rescue and treat injured victims whether civilians or FSA fighters despite the extreme shortage in medical staff, equipment and material. The field hospital received today a number of injured victims. The victims were rescued and given the necessary treatment and medication.
