Rocket launcher and artillery shelling targets city’s neighbourhoods and combat fronts; violent clashes between FSA fighters and regime fighters; new reinforcements enter city attempting to control it; FSA fighters remain steadfast in the face of regime forces; acute shortage in all life necessities
*** Recent developments on the ground***
New reinforcements joined the southern front build-up including 4 tanks and a BMP vehicle. While on another level, a military convoy headed towards the city this morning from Al-Mazzeh airport including 4 tanks, 4 armoured vehicles, 4 BMP vehicles, 11 machinegun-mounted trucks, as well as several troop-carriers. The city is also still besieged by a large number of tanks, military vehicles and troops. Helicopters are still conducting daily sorties over the city.
Fierce clashes broke out between FSA fighters and regime forces along the western front while the southern front witnessed less violent and intermittent clashes.
Meanwhile the Fourth Army Division as well as the barracks and checkpoints surrounding the city continued to shell the city using rocket launchers and artillery.
Brutal shelling is still targeting the southern and western fronts causing widespread destruction in buildings and infrastructure.
*** Humanitarian situation***
The suffering of the displaced Darayans is increasing on a daily basis, especially those in neighbouring towns. More than 200,000 displaced people face unimaginable difficulties under siege, shelling and recurring massacres. People remaining inside Daraya are facing a far greater threat under siege and total absence of the basic necessities of life including electricity and water.
*** Medical Centre Report***
The medical team continues to provide all possible help to rescue and treat injured victims whether civilians or FSA fighters despite the extreme shortage in medical staff, equipment and material.
The field hospital received today a number of injured victims. The victims were rescued and given the necessary treatment and medication.
