|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
Tension in the city continues as a result of daily raids by regime forces, and the presence of checkpoints throughout the city.
Security forces and shabiha raided al-Hamedeya neighborhood today, and arrested a number of residents. A convoy of two vehicles with mounted anti-artillery aircraft, and six cars with shabiha, passed through al-Dabagha neighborhood and entered the coppersmiths' market today. Security forces planted a mine in al-Qusour neighborhood, and it killed one child and injured three of his relatives.
¤ Hama Countryside:
Qal'at al-Madeeq:
The Farouq Battalions of Qal'at al-Madeeq stormed al-Mahd checkpoint, which lies west of the city. At around 3:30 a.m., they launched a number of hand grenades and destroyed a BMP and a T-72 tank. They also seized much ammunition and medium-grade weaponry. The checkpoint was completely liberated.
Helfaya:
For the 8th consecutive day, clashes are taking place at the southeastern and southwestern outskirts of Helfaya, as the city is attacked with all kinds of rockets and artillery from 18 different points under air cover. Three air strikes were reported this morning, and cluster and thermobaric bombs were dropped. A number of people were reportedly killed and wounded. Another three air strikes were reported later on, as shelling from multiple checkpoints continued.
Eastern Hama Countryside:
One Body Battle:
One Body Battle: Intense clashes broke out between regime and opposition forces in al-Qahera village. Regime forces and shabiha reportedly retreated from the village. A tank was destroyed with a Concourse missile and fighters advanced into the area surrounding al-Qahera, Ras al-Ain, al-She'teh and Qasr Mukhram, with the ultimate goal of securing a number of strategic points around al-Tlaiseyeh village. FSA forces also attacked the pro-regime Sabboura village with 6 Grad missiles. Initial reports say they hit it directly.
al-Hardaneh Village:
This morning, al-Hardaneh village was under artillery shelling from Eastern Barri after FSA battalions announced they had gained complete control of it. Popular Committee forces launched a campaign of arrests in Barri, arrested: Akram Zaidan, a driver who was taken to the Popular Committee base at the gym in the village; Ali Zaidan, a merchant who was arrested yesterday evening. Um Khareezeh village was subject to mortar shelling from Sabboura. Also, Hajeeleh and Dahsh, which lie east of al-Hamra, were shelled from the Rahjan checkpoint.
Kafarzeita:
Many helicopters were seen flying over Kafarzeita today, which is without electricity and water for the forth consecutive day. Many refugees from Helfaya are now in Kafarzeita.
al-Zakaa Village:
Al-Zakaa village was subject to artillery shelling from Deir Mharde.
Shahshabo Mountain:
Shelling of the villages of Shahshabo Mountain from checkpoints in al-Ghab Plain was reported this afternoon.
al-Twainy Village:
A number of houses in al-Twainy village were set on fire as a result of artillery shelling today.
Salamieh:
Regime forces in Salamieh are on high alert, and have closed off the National Hospital after the arrival of more than 10 people wounded in battle in Hama's eastern suburbs. Activists reported that a shabih named Waleed Shaqra was killed in a car bombing today.
Bsaireen:
Intense gunfire was reported from al-Kahraba checkpoint toward Bsaireen and Tal Qartal
