|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
This morning, Assad regime forces raided houses in al-Hamedeya neighborhood and arbitrarily arrested men over the age of 17.

More than 30 families were detained at the eastern Mharde checkpoint, and were used as a human shield by regime forces who were attempting to storm the city from the west. Rebel fighters retreated into the city to protect the civilians outside of it. Those civilians were then executed by the regime army.
Intense fighting took place at the western entrance to Helfaya between regime and opposition forces. Shelling of the city is unprecedented, and the bridge connecting Tayebt al-Imam and Helfaya was destroyed by the regime's shelling.
