*** Recent developments on the ground***
The day concluded with a retreat by the reinforcements that kept coming from Al-Mazzeh Airport into the city throughout the day and included 3 tanks, a number of BMP vehicles, a number of troop-carriers and a number of DShK vehicles. The forces retreated after a day of clashes with FSA fighters who stood their ground for yet another day.
The western and southern fronts were the scene of mutual sniper shooting. Shelling was also resumed and it targeted residential neighbourhoods of the city as well as combat fronts. Shelling started during the night using rocket launchers and halted during early morning only to resume during the day including artillery and rockets. Meanwhile, recon aircrafts flew over the city during the day.
