Daraya: Local Council of Daraya City
Daily News Roundup: Field, Medical and Humanitarian Situation in Daraya, Damascus
9 May 2013
*** Recent developments on the ground***
Clashes between regime forces and the FSA broke out during the night and continued into the early hours of the morning only to renew in the morning. The fiercest clashes were recorded on the western and southern fronts using light and medium weapons. Fighting was accompanied by shelling by tanks located along Jedaidat Sahnaya Road, rocket and artillery shelling from barracks surrounding the city, and thermobaric bombs by MiG fighters. Helicopters also flew over the city. All these actions are desperate attempts by a desperate regime whose pride has been broken on the borders of Daraya.
New military reinforcements entered the city coming from Al-Mazzeh airport including 4 tanks, 3 armoured vehicles; 3 BMP vehicles, 17 Machinegun vehicles, and a number of troop-carriers. In addition to this, the huge build-up along the southern and western fronts is still in place.

*** Humanitarian situation***
The suffering of the displaced Darayans is increasing on a daily basis, especially those in neighbouring towns. More than 200,000 displaced people face unimaginable difficulties under siege, shelling and recurring massacres. People remaining inside Daraya are facing a far greater threat under siege and total absence of the basic necessities of life including electricity and water.
*** Medical Centre Report***
The medical team continues to provide all possible help to rescue and treat injured victims whether civilians or FSA fighters despite the extreme shortage in medical staff, equipment and material.
The field hospital received today a number of injured victims. The victims were rescued and given the necessary treatment and medication.
The election committee in Daraya’s Local Council published today the electoral regulations for the 3rd term of council elections:
