|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
The situation in Hama is worsening as a result of increased military operations by the regime's military and paramilitary forces in response to the liberation of the Naseh Alwani checkpoint in Tareeq Halab neighborhood, which was oldest regime checkpoint in the city. There is almost no movement between neighborhoods as a result of the tension. Security forces dismissed school students and prevented them from attending, and have closed off entrances to neighborhoods with checkpoints. Employees are also prevented from going to work. Forces were deployed near Adi Gas Station, and were treating the few people passing through al-Mehwara checkpoint very badly. A bus carrying shabiha and a police van came on Salamieh Road toward the city center.
The situation in Tareeq Halab is more tense than in other neighborhoods, due to the fact that snipers are arbitrarily opening fire regularly. Regime forces are deployed throughout the road between Assi Square and al-A'laaf checkpoint in the neighborhood. Part of the neighborhood is without electricity after a power generator was struck by bullets. A woman sustained an injury as a result of sniper fire from the A'laf checkpoint, and a BMP at the checkpoint is arbitrarily opening fire.
Shabiha besieged al-Hamedeya neighborhood, and prevented people from entering or leaving. The same can be said of al-Hader, where all shops are closed and regime forces are widely deployed.
There is almost no movement in the Bab al-Nahr, Abe al-Fidaa neighborhood, Freedom Bridge and near the Citadel, and a checkpoint at Ghazi Mosque is searching passersby.
Entrances to Janoob al-Thakaneh from the direction of al-Jarajmeh have been closed off, and forces are deployed on Sherfet al-Bernawi. All schools in the neighborhood were closed, and residents cannot leave the neighborhood. From Thursday until now, there is almost no traffic.
In al-Karameh neighborhood, regime snipers deployed on the rooftops of buildings on the main street overlooking Kazo neighborhood. They are asking residents of the neighborhood to bring them food. Residents of Tareeq Halab fled to the neighborhood to escape shelling. At around noon every day, security patrol vehicles roam around the neighborhood and position near Saeed al-Jabi Mosque Roundabout, where they search people at a temporary checkpoint.
Intense clashes broke out between regime forces and the Free Syrian Army in Janoob al-Mal'aab, which is surrounded by the regime. All main streets in the neighborhood were closed off, and 20 BMPs and armored vehicles were seen leaving the political security building toward the neighborhood. The positioned next to al-Nesr Roundabout. Snipers positioned atop residential buildings, shooting at anything that moved. Three young men were arrested on the main treat, separating Mashaa' al-Furuseyeh and Janoob al-Mal'aab.
There is a shortage of bread in Hama. Though bakeries are open, there is no flour. Other supplies, such as vegetables, are in short supply, since vegetable cars are not able to move around the city, and are taxed based on the amount of supplies they are carrying.
Sounds of explosions and gunfire are heard throughout the city every now and again. A number of missiles were fired from the Hama Military Airport toward the countryside.
Also, an activist reported that the bus that drives the Salamieh-Damascus route was shot at near Yabroud, a suburb of Damascus. About four people were wounded at around 9:30 this morning.
Shabiha from the Baath Party HQ deployed on on al-Mutanabbi Street. Snipers scaled buildings in the area and were facing toward Bab Qibli. In al-Amereyeh neighborhood, regime forces occupied a building overlooking the street leading to al-Kendi Garden, across from Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq Street. They also occupied al-Ghawi building in al-Takeyeh, which overlooks al-Amereyeh Street.
Smoke filled the sky of Janoob al-Mal'aab neighborhood after the FSA attacked an armored vehicle. Intense clashes broke out in the neighborhood. In al-Qusour, the sniper positioned atop residential buildings arbitrarily opened fire.
