|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
This morning, Assad regime forces raided al-Faraya neighborhood and burnt a house on al-Wattar Street. They also deployed at Saeed al-Jabi Roundabout in al-Karameh neighborhood and set up a temporary checkpoint, with reports of arbitrary arrests. On Ibn al-Rushd Street, regime forces deployed and searched passersby, especially the youth. Sounds of gunfire were heard on the street as well. A temporary checkpoint was also erected by regime forces in Janoob al-Thakaneh neighborhood. Intermittent gunfire was reported by forces on al-Bayyad Corniche, and regime forces also set up a temporary checkpoint in the area.
In the evening, anti-regime demonstrations were held in a number of neighborhoods.
A report on the release of detainees today:
This afternoon, three buses carrying about 24 detainees came to Hama city, as security forces deployed in front of the governorate building in Assi Square. They forced the people to chant in support of Bashar, as they released the prisoners per the pardon he granted on April 16.
Residents stood outside waiting for their loved ones that have been missing for a while. The governor Anas al-Na'em came and spoke about how he and Bashar are looking out for the well-being of the people. Over the last few days, about 100 prisoners have been released, while there are at least 4500 documented prisoners in the city. Only about 2 percent have been released. Also, tens of people are detained on a daily basis, which proves that this act means nothing.
