|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
Residents of the city were in a state of panic this morning as all landlines were disconnected throughout the city and its suburbs.
At 8 a.m., regime forces deployed in al-Karameh neighborhood amid a total communication outage in the city. They raided a number of houses between the post office and al-Sahha Roundabout, but did not arrest anyone. A military envoy was seen exiting the Hama Military Airport this morning, but it is not known where the envoy was headed. It is important to note that for the last ten days, regime forces have been arbitrarily arresting residents as they search for activists and people who are of military age.
Today in al-Sawa'eq neighborhood, the funeral was held for martyr Mohammad al-Hamdi and Awad Mahmoud al-Hamdi, who were fatally shot by regime forces on 6/4/2013, the day a fighter jet was downed in the neighborhood. At that time, the regime forces took their bodies and tossed them in a body of water. They were discovered today, taken to the National Hospital for identification, and then returned to their families.
An armored vehicle and a number of pick-ups were seen roaming around al-Qusour and al-Sabouneyeh. They stopped young men and asked for their ID cards, but did not arrest anyone.
In the evening:
Security forces widely deployed near the following checkpoints: al-Kawthar, Baath Party HQ, al-Hezb al-Qadeem amid intermittent gunfire. Clashes broke out between the Free Syrian Army and forces at al-Kawthar checkpoint, which the FSA struck with an RPG.
¤ Hama Countryside:
Northern Hama Countryside:
This morning, warplanes and helicopters were seen in flight over Hama's northern suburbs.
Jerneyet al-Assi Village:
Regime forces arrested the following two men today:
• Mohammad Faisal al-Hasan, age 25
• Mohammad Abdulrazaq Hameed, age 18
Tayebt al-Imam:
Assad regime forces and shabiha in the city stole five motorcycles belonging to residents, and burnt one of them.
Mourek:
Owners of gas stations in Mourek have teamed up with regime forces at the checkpoints in order to sell fuel on the black market it instead of making it available to residents. Even before the revolution, it was known that the gas station owners of Mourek were among the biggest fuel mafia and worked closely with the regime. Since they are working with regime checkpoints, we hold them responsible for any harm that may be inflicted upon residents by the shabiha who are managing the distribution of fuel.
