|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
Regime forces continue their campaigns of raids and arbitrary arrests in Hama city, and have intensified them over the last week. The areas that are under the most pressure are al-Qusour, al-Hader, al-Karameh and Janoob al-Thakaneh. Regime forces are now checking the personal ID cards of women in their computer systems as they pass through checkpoints such as the Ain al-Louzeh checkpoint. This morning, 2 microbuses were added to that checkpoint, and some new forces were positioned there
Al-Qusour neighborhood and the orchards of al-Shree'a have been subject to intense raids for the last three days. This morning, more than 3 armored vehicles and 3 pick-ups with mounted machine guns entered the orchards of al-Shree'a neighborhood, adjacent to al-Qusour. Security forces closed off the road leading to al-Qusour from the bridge and deployed until the central prison roundabout. An armored vehicle was seen roaming around near Talhat al-Khair Mosque. The forces arrested a number of men in front of Omar al-Saffaf School and took them to the shabiha base in the computer institute. We have received the names of some of the people arrested in the raid of al-Qusour neighborhood last night. Among them are Hamza al-Masri, Mohammad Kateel and someone from the Shaqra family. Over the last three days, about 70 people from the area have been arrested and four were killed and four civilians were wounded.
A number of security vehicles led by Louay Slaiteen, head of the military security branch, raided Janoob al-Thakaneh. Clashes broke out for a short period near the old political security branch, leaving a child wounded by regime forces gunfire. A number of houses were raided as well. Forces from the Workers' Union building raided the Vienca internet cafe and arrested three men of military age and beat them.
This morning, regime forces raided the house of lawyer Hekmat al-Khani in al-Karameh neighborhood. Air Force Intelligence forces arrested him and a female lawyer from Salamieh who lived in his house. They also stole his personal computer and searched his neighbor's houses. Temporary checkpoints were set up in the neighborhood.
A large envoy left the national security branch on Homs Road, comprising 6 armored vehicles and 8 Hi-Lux vehicles with mounted machine guns, in addition to 5 station wagons and a taxi cab. They headed toward Ain al-Louzeh Roundabout.
In the afternoon, an envoy of vars filled with security forces were seen at al-Nesr Roundabout. In al-Andalus neighborhood, forces from the societal affairs checkpoint deployed and stopped people and asked them for their IDs.
