|| Situation in the City and Countryside ||
¤ Hama City:
Tension is running high in the city due to the widespread presence of regime forces throughout the city, searching cars and passersby and searching for those wanted for military duty. The kidnapping of women and children is on the rise, as the kidnappers call the families and ask for large amounts of ransom in return.
Today, the road leading to al-Hader was closed off as regime forces deployed near al-Usfour Restaurant. They set off an explosive device near al-Shamaleyeh neighborhood, and then opened the road up again.
Regime forces erected a temporary checkpoint near Freedom Bridge and the Citadel Roundabout. The same checkpoint has present on a near daily basis after 11 a.m. for the last two months.
In al-Qusour neighborhood, regime forces set off an explosive device this morning.
Security forces and shabiha raided a house in al-Karameh neighborhood for no apparent reason as well. More than seven armored vehicles and five other cars raided Mashaa' al-Furuseyeh.
¤ Hama Countryside :
Kafarzeita:
At least two shells struck the area surrounding Kafarzeita early this morning.
The city was bombarded with missiles in the evening.
Kafranbooda:
Heavy artillery and missile shelling of Kafranbooda was reported amid intense clashes at the edges of the town. A number of shabiha were killed or wounded and were taken to hospitals in Mharde and Hama. The vehicles transporting the wounded were spotted on Shaizar Bridge toward Hama.
Soran:
Assad regime forces arrested Mohammad Omar al-Shaikh and Faisal Omar al-Shaikh after raiding their house on 23/3/2013.
They also arrested Mustafa Jumaa al-Jazzar and Ibrahim Nezal al-Nezal and Hasan Mahmoud Abdulghani at a temporary checkpoint north of the firsts of the city on 26/3/2013.
al-Hamra Area:
For more than two hours, the villages of Arafeh, Rabdeh, al-Shateeb and Ub al-Khanzeh were subject to intense missile bombardment from al-Kharsan village. Tens of people were wounded and many houses were destroyed.
Qasr ibn wardan:
Regime forces at al-Rahjan checkpoint bombarded Qasr ibn Wardan with artillery shelling, and about 50 sheep were killed as a result.
Tayebt al-Imam:
The day before yesterday, Assad regime forces arrested Naseh al-Khateeb (al-Abdulra'ouf) after raiding his house.
Southern Hama Countryside:
Buraq:
Regime forces set up three checkpoints in Buraq village, and arrested a number of people.
Tal Qartal:
A woman was arrested at a checkpoint at the Ta Qartal junction. Cars in the area were being searched as well, as regime forces search for men in the mandatory military age.
Eastern Hama Countryside:
A military envoy stationed at the al-Shaikh Hilal checkpoint. It comprises six tanks and 20 vehicles carrying shabiha. One of the tanks is at the gas station east of the al-Shaikh Hilal.
Salamieh:
The situation in Salamieh and its suburbs was relative calm today. The most important event was that a number of detainees from the area who had been detained by People's Committee's forces were freed. We have received the following names:
