Day no. 721 of the uprising
Total number of lives lost today in Syria: 149 (Documented)
Many casualties fell in Al Raqqa today as the regime's military
aerially attacked it after the Free Syrian Army took control of the
city, and liberated major regime bases after intense clashes. Throughout
the day, most parts of Homs and its suburbs were bombarded with
artillery, rockets and mortars amid heavy clashes between regime and
opposition forces.
The regime's
military also shelled Damascus and its suburbs today, leaving many
people, including children and elderlies, either dead or wounded. Tanks,
mortars and artillery shells were all used in attacks on residential
areas, and a car bombing was reported in a suburb of Damascus. In a
central district of the capital, regime forces stopped cars and asked
people for their personal ID cards.
The suburbs of Idlib,
particularly those in the north, witnessed intense missile and artillery
shelling. The regime's Air Force also dropped cluster bombs on parts of
the province, and large explosions shook the area. Most parts of the
Aleppo province were bombarded with heavy weaponry as well, leaving a
number of people dead or wounded. Intense fighting between the FSA and
regime forces was reported in Aleppo's suburbs.

Most of the suburbs of Daraa faced missile and artillery bombardment,
and heavy shelling was reported in the suburbs of Hama. Three people
were summarily executed in a Hama suburb, and an unidentified body was
uncovered in Deir Ezzor. A number of neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor
witnessed both shelling and clashes. Clashes were also reported in Al
Hasakeh and in Al Qunaitra, where regime forces attempted a ground
invasion of a village while shelling it. Latakia's mountainous suburbs
were subject to rocket and artillery shelling as well.
