An Announcement Concerning the Arrest of Mr. Rasem Atassi

The Human Right Organizations in Syria have come to know that, today, the Syrian authorities have arrested Mr. Rasem Atassi, A member of the Board of Trustees of the Arabian Human Rights Organization.
The Arrest of Mr. Rasem was conducted thru the Military Court, after presenting un-founded and unreasonable charges that have been fabricated by the Security Authorities.
The Human Right Organizations, herewith undersigned, strongly condemn and deplore this suppressive, security-minded approach that violates civil laws and international conventions that call for protecting human rights activists, and that was attested by the Syrian government. And refers to the arbitrary arrest and siege of the Syrian people across Syrian cities and villages, that has been imposed on them thru an unprecedented suppression, tyranny and legal chaos.
We demand the immediate release of our colleague Mr. Rasem Atassi and his acquittal from the false charges placed against him, in addition to the release of all the political detainees and those convicted by the unfair security trials, and the folding of this file permanently, in addition to putting into effect the fair civil laws after the State of Emergency has been lifted.
